Action: Codes and Conventions
Action films are fictional and often incorporate high-paced scenes that wouldn't usually happen seen in the real world. Essentially, they are one long quest with a succession of different chase sequences, each one seemingly impossible than the one before. For the producers, they should look to build up the tension as the film progresses to a storming end sequence. Will our explorers make it, or will the evil antagonist get there first? Typically this type of genre is rated 12 or 15 certificate and has a number of sub-genres, from romance to sci-fi.
The Plot
The plot is usually more on the fictional side of things, however realistic topics can also be covered in actions such as crimes, terrorism etc. With the relationship between the audience and the characters, the viewers often look up to or respect them e.g viewers looking up to superman and wanting to be like him.
All action film must be high in pace by using quick cuts and fast transitions. These parts of the film are seen frequently and should ensure that the audience are fully immersed into the storyline/intense action. It should keep them on the edge of their seat and wanting to know what will happen next. At some point in the short film there might be an unexpected plot twist that shocks the audience, however this isn't always necessary and can sometimes just be a complex plot.
Eventually, something is revealed or someone is captured/gives themselves up. Usually the good character ends out on top (whether it's in a battle or having more pride) which pleases the audience and further creates a role model feeling .
The Protagonist
The Protagonist of the film must have the right characteristics so that the audience can relate to them and look up to them. The main protagonist should end up in a series of challenges that typically include violence, extended fighting, physical feats, and frantic chases. Action films tend to feature a resourceful hero struggling against incredible odds, which include life-threatening situations.
During the film, this character will come across their nemesis that will attempt to get in the way of the main interest that the protagonist is trying to achieve, such as pride, justice.

Other Traits of a Action Films
In some cases, actions can be based on normal people with normal lives.to make the audience seem more plausible. With regards to the location, action films are usually situated in urban areas, on streets or roads.Other characters are often brought into action films, the main characters companions, family and friends and then the villain.
