Rough Cut
We had to submit a rough cut a month before our final production had to be handed in, in order to show our teachers how our progress has been going on feedback about our rough cut we were able to improve upon our production in order to make it a lot better in the upcoming weeks
Points taken forward
The first point that we were expecting to receive was about how our production wasn't long enough. This feedback was several weeks before the date for the rough cut but meant that another scene at the start of our film had to be added so that our film would be more bulked up as well as providing more of a backstory than what we already had. Linking to this point, we were told that due to the lack of dialogue, we perhaps needed some kind of narration or to simply add in more so that the audience can comprehend with the storyline.
Our rough cut also had fairly poor lighting or camerawork in some places that needed to be adjusted, particularly when we had to green screen outside as the white lighting for outside effected the clips that we got out of it. The dark lighting in the poker scene was at first a problem, so we had to increase the brightness for that whole scene.
A massive issue that we had, and struggled with, was getting the green screen to work efficiently. As you will see in the Rough Cut, whenever we had to edit in the background to the green screen, the green screen is still in place. We knew that we needed to edit this out however we had only recently added in these shots so didn't have time to edit it out.
Another issue was with the implementation of sound. All of the sound effects weren't there apart from a few of the car engine at the start of the rough cut.. This can be easily changed. Other sound effects layers need to be added in to create more of an atmosphere as suppose to silences and pauses that lose any rhythm that the film had.
Rough Cut V2 (Two weeks after)
This rough cut has improved a great deal from our original. We now have included a Poker scene at the beginning with all of our title sequencing, as well as having a fully completed car chase and end scene. However, there were still a few sounds that were out of place e.g the car crashing, the lighting in the casino scene needed brightening up and the ongoing issue with the green screen. A purple outline was left from the green screen, making it look unprofessional and tacky. Not only this, but sections of the car, and objects like David's glasses were picking up too much light and even his hand! Some frames flicked green before the shot changed, which sums up how much of a pain editing this was. We knew we had to change this for our final production.
